As far as mountain biking goals in 2007 goes, I surpassed my goal of climbing 250,000 feet. I ended up riding 2,071.78 miles with 283,999 feet of climbing. That’s almost enough to climb Mt. Everest 10 times.
During those rides, I burned 199,578 calories. That’s enough to eat 369 Big Macs without gaining a pound. Broken down by day, that’s an extra 564 calories I burn from mountain biking. Weird thing is, I haven’t lost any weight this year. I guess I just ride to eat more.
This year, I’m going to shoot for 300,000 feet. There are a couple of events that I’ve signed up for that should help me reach this goal. I have the Counting Coup (44 miles, ~8,000 ft) in March, and I’m on the verge of signing up for a 12-hour solo endurance ride (12 Hours of Temecula) later this month.
