Irvine to the Sea via Bommer Canyon

This past weekend, Bommer Canyon had one of it’s Wilderness Access days. Basically, they open to the public for a few hours each month.

I wish they would be open everyday, since it allows me to ride all the way from Irvine to the ocean on pretty much all dirt. Bommer Canyon can be accessed from Quail Hill / Shady Canyon and connects to Laguna Canyon Wilderness Park by a trail that cuts under the 73. LCWP then connects to El Moro and that can take you all the way down to PCH.

My round trip ended up being 38 miles with approximately 5100 feet of elevation gain.
